Four Linden School District students recently participated in the Union County 4-H Presentation Night program, held at Union County Magnate School in Scotch Plains.
Kiera Sethman received a Blue Ribbon for her presentation on Yorkshire Terriers. Kiera, a student at McManus Middle School, has been a member of the 4-H Dog Lover’s Club for 6 years.
Three members of the newly formed Tech Club, which meets at Linden Library twice a month, participated for the first time. McManus Middle School student, Ariana Rodriguez received a Blue Ribbon for her presentation on Spain and School 9 student, Diego Rodriguez received a Blue Ribbon for his presentation on jet aircrafts. Alex Pillar, from School 8 received a Yellow Ribbon for his presentation on Legos.
Giving presentations helps develop many life skills including the ability to speak in front of a group; organize ideas; and create and use graphics to support the spoken word. The 4-H Youth Development Program, supported by Rutgers Cooperative Extension, uses a learn-by doing approach to enable youth to develop the knowledge, attitude and skills they need to become competent, caring, and contributing citizens of the world. This is accomplished by using the knowledge and resources of caring adults. For more information on Union County 4-H program, contact 908-654-9854.
