The Linden Public School’s Mathematics and Multilingual Learners Departments, in collaboration with School #6, are excited to share the success of the Multilingual Math Extravaganza. This engaging family event, inspired by the Olympic Games, celebrated unity and competition among students and their families. The festivities began with a warm welcome, highlighting the significance of the Olympic Games on a global scale.

Rick Molinaro, Director of Mathematics at Linden Public Schools, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Bringing the excitement of the Olympic Games to our school community was a collaborative effort between School #6 Principal, the Mathematics and Multilingual Learners Departments. This event offered students a fun way to enhance their math skills in an interactive setting.”

Danie Orelien, LPS Director of Multilingual Learners, reflected on the joyous atmosphere, saying, “The smiles on the faces of the students and their families were evidence of the wonderful time they had. Centered around the Math Olympics theme, the event provided an inclusive experience, fostering a love for math and encouraging teamwork and collaboration. It demonstrated the power of community involvement in education.”

Students and families enjoyed a variety of math-themed activities, including the Paper Plate Toss, Basketball Toss, Long Jump, Obstacle Course, Monster Math Bean Bag Toss, Go Fish, and Olympic Table Activities. Each station was carefully organized with clear instructions and enthusiastic volunteers from JROTC, ensuring a memorable experience for all.

William Mastriano, Principal of School No. 6, expressed his excitement for the event, stating, “We’re thrilled to see our students and families come together for a night of fun and learning.”

Tania Miguelez, Supervisor of Bilingual, ESL, and World Languages, reiterated the commitment to providing innovative educational experiences, stating, “As educational leaders, we are dedicated to creating a supportive environment for our community.”

The success of the event was made possible by the dedication of Linden Public School District staff, including Math coaches Mrs. Margaret Zucosky, Ms. Claudia Dolan, Mr. Frank Minniti, and Mr. Walter Schweikardt, along with Multilingual Learners (ML) coach Ms. Stephanie Ross. Special thanks are extended to all Linden Public School staff, LPS JROTC cadet volunteers, School #6 staff, Mayor Derek Armstead, and community members whose active participation enriched the Multilingual Math Extravaganza Night festivities.
