The weather was perfect on May 9, 2016; warm, a light breeze, and lots of bright sunshine for the 2016 Police Unity Tour. Linden Public School No. 1 and No. 6 students, teachers and faculty greeted members of the Linden Police Department “Team Linden” who participated in the 2016 Police Unity Tour on its annual trek from the Freedom Tower in New York City to Washington, D.C. As Team Linden and the entire Police Unity Tour made their entrance onto Wood Ave., leading the way was a motorcade of motorcycles with sirens blaring, lights flashing, cheers, and a standing ovation from Linden School No. 1 set the mood. School No. 1 students waved hand made American flags, held large banners welcoming “Team Linden” and the entire tour of bikers. A few of the Linden team members pulled over to pose for a photo while the other members of the Police Unity Tour gave High-5’s as the song “Proud to Be An American” was heard playing in the background. Team Linden and the entire Police Unity Tour brought smiles to the students of Linden and patriotism to the streets of Linden. The spirit of gratitude from Linden Public Schools and the entire City of Linden was felt by the Police Unity Tour and especially by “Team Linden” who ride for those that gave their lives for the American way of life.
Linden School No. 1 and Linden School No. 6 cheer on Team Linden.
