Florian Schantz Jazz Combo to Present Hot Jazz Concert at the Linden Library
Long before jazz was cool, it was hot. Early 20th Century jazz was sometimes raucous and wild, played with reckless abandon, sometimes gritty and bluesy, and sometimes mellow and sweet. The early jazz age peaked in the late 1920s, before giving way to the swing era in the 30s. Nowadays early jazz is often filed away as quaint and corny with its power and drive forgotten.
The Florian Schantz Jazz Combo, however, is reviving authentic hot jazz in all its former glory. As part of a larger library tour spanning 6 counties around NJ and NY, the Florian Schantz Jazz Combo will be appearing in the Linden Library on October 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM.
The band will be featuring the music that put the ROAR in the roaring 20s. Come witness the revival of the one true American art form in its purest form. Better yet, bring the children- expose them to something “new.” The show is suitable for all ages. The band is led by award-winning Florian Schantz, a fiery 14 year old trumpet player from Westfield with over 200 performances all over NJ and NY since 2013.
He’s been running the band since he was 9 years old.
The band also features Rup Chattopadhyay on trombone and tuba, Margaret Schantz on Flügelhorn, Cory Ackerman on drums, and Lowell Schantz on guitar. For more information about the Florian Schantz Jazz Combo,
