Despite the fact that racism was ever so present in the lives of this community, it did not have the power to destroy the town’s self-respect. Creating scenes from actual events and her imagination, Hairston transports readers back through time and connects them to An often painful period from the past yet also offers hope.

Hairston retired from PSEG in 2019 and has dedicated her creative passion of writing by bringing history to life through telling stories that have been lost or forgotten. E’kalb Hollowhas been featured on UnionTV34 and the MeTV Network.
