How Money Works
June Lazaro of Primerica will present “How Money Works” at the Linden Library on
Monday, March 6th.
There will be two sessions, one from 2-3 pm and the other from 7-8 pm. The three root causes of the financial problems most families face are a failure to plan, being uninformed, and misinformation. This informative seminar will discuss the Rule of 72, debt stacking, revolving debt traps, and how your life insurance policy works. To sign up for the program please contact June at 908-930-8310 or the library at 908-298-3830 by March 3rd.  For specific questions about the program please contact June.  The library is located at 31 E. Women’s History Month in March
During the Linden Library’s month long commemoration of Women’s History Month in March, we will feature Mary Tyler Moore in two of her most celebrated roles. Please join us in the Columbia Bank Room at 2:00 p.m. on these March 9th for select episodes of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, including the series pilot, and on March 23rd as we proudlydly present the 1980 Academy Award winner for Best Picture: Ordinary People. It was the first and only Oscar nomination in Moore’s cinematic career.
To commemorate Women’s History Month,
the Linden Public Library is proud to present a series of biographical films on famous women whose significant contributions greatly impacted culture, society, politics and public policy. These films will be presented during the month of March, free of charge, each Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 in the Columbia Bank Room. On March 7th is Biography of Jane Austen; March 14th is Biography of Carol Burnett; March 21st is Betty Ford, The Real Deal, and March 28th is Molly Brown, American Legend.
NJ Makers Day
To celebrate making and maker culture Linden Public Library will be having its first NJ Makers Day on Saturday, March 18th, 2017 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. We will be introducing our new 3D printer and demonstrating how it works. The public will also have the opportunity to meet our new robot named Finch who will give a tour of the library. There will be games and projects that are both challenging and fun which will be set up at various stations for everyone to try out. NJ Makers Day is designed to be a statewide event that introduces and promotes maker culture, as well as the values associated with making, tinkering and STEM-based learning.
The maker movement in the United States isn’t just a hobby; it’s having a significant impact on school curriculum development and growing local economies. Participating locations include public and academic libraries, schools, museums, commercial makerspaces, and AC Moore stores, as well as sponsorship from such organizations as LibraryLinkNJ, littleBits Electronics, and ManufactureNJ. Sign up for Linden Public Library NJ Maker’s Day will be at the circulation desk.  The program will take place in the Columbia Bank Room on the 3rdFloor.
Blood Drive
The Linden Public Library will host a blood drive on Monday, April 3rd, from 12:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the Columbia Bank Room.  The library is located at 31 E. Henry Street, Linden, NJ 07036.  For questions about eligibility, please call 1-800-NJBLOOD.
Friends of the Linden Library fundraiser
The Friends of the Linden Library are hosting a fundraiser at Buffalo Wild Wings on Monday, April 3rd, from 11 an – 2 am.  Buffalo Wild Wings will donate 10% of all sales (excluding tax, gratuity, alcohol sales, or promotional discounts) to the organization.  This is only valid at the restaurant located at 1701 West Edgar Road, Linden, NJ.  You will need to present a fundraising ticket for your purchase to help.  They can be found at the library or at https://goo.gl/bksQQv.   Thank you in advance for your support.
