Library Offers Magazine Downloading Service
Over 3,000 Periodicals Available
The Linden Public Library is proud to announce the addition of a new app available to our patrons that offers free downloading of over 3,000 magazines and periodicals to any device. The service is called “Libby,” the award-winning reading app from Overdrive, which is also available to Linden Library patrons for downloadable audiobooks and ebooks free of charge. Top titles include U.S. Weekly, Rolling Stone, National Geographic and many other popular magazines.
Dennis Purves, Linden Public Library Director, states that the app is easy to use and recommends all patrons with a device to try it. He says, “Digital magazines have no wait lists or holds. They don’t count towards checkout limits and provide readers the option to renew their selections. Linden Public Library patrons can also download magazines to Libby for offline use. Our readers can browse lists of magazines within the app and search by format to find available titles.”
Purves continues, “Readers may browse Linden Library’s digital collection, instantly borrow titles and start reading or listening for free with a valid library card. This service is compatible with all major computers and devices, iPhone, iPad, Android phones and tablets and Chromebook. Through Libby, readers can also “send to Kindle”. All titles will automatically expire at the end of the lending period and there are no late fees. Readers can also download titles onto Libby for offline use. This is another great technological advance. All that is needed is a Linden Library card.”
