Pia Foy Wins Statewide Essay Contest
The NJ State Veterans of Foreign Wars and Linden Post 1397 would like to congratulate Pia Foy, a Linden High School student, who represented Post 1397 and District 5, in the VFW’s Voice of Democracy Scholarship Essay Contest for the State. This year’s theme was “What Makes America Great”.
Out of 17 VFW Districts in New Jersey, Pia placed first. She now goes on to the National competition in Washington, DC where she will compete for a $30,000 scholarship against the other state winners. While in Washington, DC Pia and the other state winners will enjoy an all expense paid trip for 5 days, they will be honored by the National VFW and its Auxiliary and have a tour of the city.
