Mrs. Monica Goncalves has been recently selected as Linden High School’s 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Goncalves is a graduate of the College of Saint Elizabeth and Kean University. She has completed coursework in Educational Administration and Supervision, and currently serves as the Department Chair of the Social Studies Department.
Mrs. Goncalves began her work at Linden High School in 2002, and has been responsible for teaching World History, U.S. History I, U.S. History II, Introduction to Education, and Law & Government. She has served for several years as a cooperating teacher to Kean University student teachers, contributing to the development of future teachers. She has also worked tirelessly as the coordinator of a Bias & Prejudice Reduction Program at Linden High School, which resulted in her becoming a recipient of the Unity Achievement Award presented by the Union County Human Relations Commission in 2013.
Mrs. Goncalves is also very active at Linden High School as the advisor for the National Honor Society, Law Day Coordinator, Mock Election Coordinator, Graduation Committee Member, Middle States Committee Member, as well as a member of the SCOPE (Special Coordinators of Professional Enrichment) Team.
Ms. Annabell Louis has been recently selected as Linden High School’s 2015-2016 Educational Services Professional of the Year. Ms. Louis is a graduate of Rutgers University, Kean University, and has completed coursework at New York University. She is currently pursuing post- Master’s studies in Educational Administration through the NJEXCEL program.
Ms. Louis began her work in the district in 2008, as a Social Worker at School #2. Since 2011, she has served in the same capacity at the high school, where she is responsible for conducting weekly individual and group therapeutic counseling sessions for Special Education and General Education students, serving as a liaison between families and the school to positively promote collaborative processes in educational planning for students, providing consultation services to school personnel and parents regarding strategies for helping students cope with personal and social concerns, and serving as chairperson of the Peer Mediation Program and club advisor for the Gay- Straight Alliance (G.S.A.). Ms. Louis is also very active in a variety of other programs and events at Linden High School, such as Red Ribbon Week, Violence Prevention Week, Student of the Month, Pep Rally, Homecoming, Back to School Night, and the SCOPE (Special Coordinators of Professional Enrichment) Team.
