The Linden High School NJROTC Physical Fitness team Participated in the New Jersey Youth Physical Fitness Challenge at Rutgers University on March 19, 2014. This was the team’s first year attending this challenge. Two teams competed, one representing the boys the other the girls. Although the teams did not place, individual cadets where recognized for there outstanding performances. In the Girls’ Division, cadets Odalys Castro, Amanda Martinez and Monica Tarnawski where selected to the All New Jersey Bronze Team. While in the Male Division Patryk Lukaszewicz was also selected to the Bronze team. Ricardo Garcia was selected to the Gold Medal Team and was the 2nd place Male Overall.
The Linden Navy JROTC team competed in the Wards Pond Orienteering Competition on Saturday March 22nd. Six teams set out on different level courses, 1 on the orange, 4 on the yellow, and 1 freshman team on the white.
Orange course team lead by Patryk Lukaszewicz with team members Arcesio Medina and Saamad Mitchell came in 2nd place. On the white course Brendon Birch’s team came in 3rd place. His team members included Maria De La Cuadra, Kathleen Eckman and Barbara Machado.
