Law Explorer Members Meet With Mayor Armstead

These young Explorers have been educating themselves about everything law until Friday, November 20, 2015 when Hon. Mayor Derek Armstead mayor of Linden, joined them to be a guest speaker. The members held a very interesting dialogue with Linden’s Mayor as they learned the ins and outs of the local government system. “The mayor taught us a great lesson about our names being more valuable than gold. It’s a great lesson for the youth because we need to make sure that we keep a good reputation because people will remember what you did and what you do,” said Explorer Joey. The members of Post 629 ran the event just like the others. They began with the pledge of allegiance and the Post Oath, “An explorer seeks to show honesty, competence, candor, commitment, integrity, courage, straightforwardness, and imagination.” When asked about his experience, Mayor Armstead stated, “What an amazing group of young people! This is the most rewarding part of my job as Mayor. It was a great honor to be the guest speaker at the Law Explorer Post 629 November Friday Evening meeting. Linden parents, this is a wonderful program offered in Linden for the young people between the ages of 14 through 20 living in Union County.”
