The Carl H. Kumpf Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) recently held a virtual induction ceremony on Thursday, May 6. 17 new members were inducted into the chapter.
Principal Rick Delmonaco and NJHS Advisor Suzanne Hamilton provided opening remarks. NJHS Officers Krista Steiner, Alexa Tavares, Emily Pittari, Emma Herko, and Ivy Liu relayed the cardinal principles of honor society scholarship, leadership, service, character, and citizenship. Each inductee had an opportunity to thank the important people in their lives. They then were given the NJHS Pledge administered by Assistant Principal Amanda Clarke. The night concluded with a speech by current NJHS President Krista Steiner who explained what NJHS meant to her. She encouraged students to be a leader and give back to their community.
In addition to achieving a cumulative, weighted average of 4.25, students also had to demonstrate strong examples of leadership, service, character, and citizenship. New inductees will be awarded membership cards and medals, which they will wear at graduation.
NJHS Advisor Ms. Hamilton stated, “It is such a pleasure to work with this stellar group of students. These individuals have worked hard to maintain good grades while still impacting their community despite the pandemic.”
