ATOMS Team Participates in Academic Tournament

Carl H. Kumpf Middle School’s ATOMS Team, the school’s academic challenge team, recently participated in the Ridgewood Middle School Invitational. This academic challenge competition was hosted online via Zoom on Saturday, February 6 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. This tournament was a qualifier for the Middle School National Championship Tournament (MSNCT), the premier national championship for the Middle School Quiz Bowl. Students answered National Academic Quiz Team (NAQT) questions over the course of eight rounds. Kumpf School had two teams participate. Miss Cristina Faro, Kumpf Middle School Math teacher, is the adviser for the ATOMS team.
The students who participated are: Ayotunde Fagbemi, Nico Fiumefreddo, Hari Grzankowski, Jennifer Hovick, Sebastian Krihak, Riya Maheshwari, Aidan Mazza, Mark Orlowski (captain), Emmanuel Pelardis (captain), and Colin Pitta.
