The 3rd annual “Taste of Linden” once again was a successful fundraiser. On November 5th over $5,000 was raised thanks to the collaboration of the Linden Chamber of Commerce and the Special Improvement Development LLC. This memorable evening was held at the Grand Banquet Hall where fabulous Linden restaurants, “ The Cobra Brothers” a Jazz Band sponsored by Medley’s Jazz Restaurant along with tastings from Metro Liquors, Wittys and Chevy’s were highlighted. Thanks to the supporting restaurants and sponsoring businesses the monies raised will go to scholarships for Linden residents and other community projects.
Special thanks to those businesses who sponsored this outstanding evening. They received Certificates of Appreciation: Platinum Sponsors – Infineum, Northfield Bank, and the Linden Education Association Silver Sponsors – Central Park, Fig Leaf Agency, Phillips 66 Bayway Refinery, and Severyn Fur Salon Bronze Sponsors – Cox Printers, Florio Family LLC, Primivera’s Café, Primerica, Santander Bank and Stella & Walter Tylicki
The generosity of the time and delicacies provided by all of the restaurants was fantastic and they too will receive Certificates of Appreciation: III Amici Ristorante, Appebees’s Grill and Bar, Chevy’s Fresh Mex, Linwood Inn Tap House, Primavera’s Café Ristorante Pizzeria, Sam’s Club, T&L/Leon’s Catering, Savannah’s Southern Belle Restaurant, Medley’s Jazz Restaurant, Medley’s Too, Meson Tropical and Galema’s Unique Taste. Special thanks to T & L and the Grand Banquet Hall for accommodating the Taste of Linden and creating an elegant atmosphere with style.
Key club members were present and shared their warmth by assisting with the room preparation, serving as needed and cleaning up too. Mayor Derek Armstead along with his daughter Brianna (a former President of a K kid club) spoke briefly and we were even blessed with the presence of Miss NJ Teen Natyely Marie Frias; a former K kid too. Door prizes were received well by the winners and $300 that was raised through the 50/50 will go for scholarships.
Kiwanis Club of Linden (501c4) organization started over 65 years ago and today still have long term members and solid relationships. Kiwanis is an international organization and together we achieve our mission: Changing the world one child and community at a time. Most certainly the “Taste of Linden” allowed us to support our community and our community indeed supported this event. Mayor Armstead referred to our club as a “fun bunch”; so, if looking to impact our community and have fun come and join us for lunch as we need to grow our membership and keep our club youthful. Usually 3 luncheons meetings a month are held on Thursdays at 12pm at Primaveras and our monthly board meetings are held at the Linden Library. Please contact June Lazaro membership chair at 908 930-8310 for additional information or email her at Junlazaro@verizon.net. Please go to www.Kiwanis.org for more info and like our Kiwanis Club of Linden facebook page and spread the word. The Kiwanis club of Linden supports and appreciates our community. Thank you! Thank you!! Thank you!!!
