JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION: 7:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, June 6
Join us for an early Juneteenth celebration which includes inspirational songs and storytelling.
Juneteenth is an annual commemoration of the end of slavery at the end of the Civil War in the United States. The holiday is observed each year on June 19.
This program will be presented by Tahira. “TAHIRA is an award-winning singer, storyteller and public speaker
who uses her sound and music to “bring audiences messages of hope and courage.”
This program is recommended for ages 4 – adult.
Boogie Woogie Babies: 10:30am – 11:00am on Tuesday, June 11
Interactive musical program will be presented by Tiffany Taylor for ages: 0- 4
Yoga Story Time: 10:30am – 11:00am on Wednesday, June 12
Join us for stories and yoga poses for the youngest listeners and their caregiver.
This program will be presented by Heather Valente for ages: 2 – 5.
This program has been funded by The Friends of The Kenilworth Public Library.
Bio4Kids DNA DISCOVERY LAB SCIENCE WORKSHOP: 4:00pm – 5:00pm on Thursday, June 13
Children ages 5 – 10 years old are invited to register for this interactive
STEM related science workshop presented by Union County Magnet High School Students.
Bio4Kids is dedicated to inspiring curious young minds through interactive, hands-on science activities. In this workshop, children will learn about DNA by building candy DNA models and doing an experiment to extract real DNA from strawberries!
Registration is required and begins one week prior to this workshop.
NJ4S EVENT AT THE KENILWORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY: 5:30pm – 6:30pm on Tuesday, June 18
Join us at The Kenilworth Public Library to learn about NJ4S resources available in Union County.
This program is an open house program that will provide information in both English and Spanish.
NJ4S is dedicated to combating the youth mental health crisis, the NJ4S Union Hub, led by Prevention Links, is here to help every student thrive and empower families with effective tools.
SPECIAL EVENT STORY TIME featuring Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen:

Meet award winning children’s author Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen who will read her book
Roxie Loves Adventure. At the conclusion of this event, children will have an opportunity to meet the adorable pug, Roxie!
Children ages 3 & up may register for this event.

Read To A Dog: 4:00pm – 5:00pm on Tuesday, June 25
For early beginning readers and those who are learning to read Young, reluctant, or struggling readers are encouraged to register for this program and read aloud for 15 minutes with certified therapy dog, Petey. Children will learn to associate reading with being with this furry, non-judgmental listener and begin to view reading in a positive way. Over time, the child’s reading ability and confidence can improve because they are practicing their skills. Registration is required. Readers may register for a 15-minute visit.
Registration begins one week prior to this program.
Good Tyme String Band: 10:30am – 11:00am on Wednesday, June 26
All ages are welcome to attend and enjoy foot tapping knee slapping banjo music
The Kenilworth Public Library invites children ages two to twelve years old to join the 2024 Adventure Begins At Your Library Summer Reading Club. Registration begins on Monday, June 17.
THE SUMMER READING CLUB BEGINS ON MONDAY, JUNE 24th.
The first 200 children who register will receive a reading club bag containing many special items.
Amazing Magic of Anthony Salazar: 7:00pm – 8:00pm on Thursday, June 27.
Join us for the 2024 Summer Reading Club Kick-off special event featuring the amazing magic of Anthony Salazar.
This interactive and exciting show should not be missed!

KENILWORTH PUBLIC LIBRARY ADULT PROGRAMS
Join us on Tuesday, June 18 at 2-4pm and Monday, June 10 at 6:00pm – 7:45pm for our card making group “Paper Pals.” You don’t need any paper crafting experience to join the fun.
“Yarnies”: Join us on Thursdays, June 6, 13 & 20 at 2-4pm and Thursday, June 27 at 6:00pm – 7:45pm. You don’t need any crafting experience to enjoy these creative explorations. Feel free to bring a project to work on. Watch demonstrations of knitting, crocheting and weaving.
“Spin – A – Yarn”: Join us on Tuesday, June 25 at 5:00pm – 7:45pm. Bring your spinning wheel or drop spindle and create beautiful yarns! If you don’t have a wheel, you are still welcome to join us to learn about spinning.
