On Friday July 17, 2015 recruits from the Kenilworth Police Department’s Youth Academy graduated from the five-day program given by sworn police officers. The ceremony was held at Kenilworth Borough Hall with Mayor Fred Pugliese and Chief John Zimmerman in attendance. Recruits learned some of the basics taught to aspiring police officers including military drill, physical fitness training, criminal and motor vehicle law, high risk motor vehicle stops, use of force simulators, SWAT tactics, and emergency driving courses. The Kenilworth Police Department was pleased with the positive feedback they received from both the recruits and their parents regarding their experience at the academy. Plans for a 2016 Youth Academy are already being initiated. Contact Det.(SRO) Brian Pickton at (908) 272-0315 for further information.
