Michael, Mathew and Danielle Skeffington had never before raced a zucchini squash until recently. With the oversight of their mother and dad, the brothers and sister team created their winning racer using bamboo skewers for axles and sliced Daikon Radishes for wheels. Their racer was not only fast but also eye catching, as it was adorned with racing flags and a miniature driver. The Great Zucchini Race, supported by the Garden Club of NJ, was part of the Youth Section’s special events at this year’s New Jersey Flower and Garden Show.
