 “On Your Mark, Get Set, Read!”
Registration for the summer reading clubs for children and teens between the ages of 2 and 18 has begun. Summer has lots going on for young readers who visit the Kenilworth Public Library up to Aug. 5.
In addition to being able to earn free paperback books based on the amount of time spent reading, children who are members of the various reading clubs may participate in the following activities:
Monday PJ Storytime (6:30-7 p.m.)
for ages 3 and up,
Tuesday Lap Sit (10:30-10:50 a.m.)
for newborns through age 2;
Wednesday Toddler Time (10:30-10:50 a.m.)
for 2 year olds.
Thursday Bingo (10:30-11 a.m.)
for ages 4 and up
“Friday Open House Crafts” Friday (11 a.m. to noon)
for ages 4 and up.
Read To A Dog program
will be held on Thursdays, July 7 & 21 and August 4 from 11:30 – 12:30pm for children who are just learning to read or looking to practice their reading skills. Registration is open to read aloud for 10 minute sessions.
Glow, a gentle golden retriever therapy dog will be on hand along with owner Susan Data-Samak to listen to children read aloud.
Teens looking for volunteer hours
are encouraged to contact the library director, Michael Maziekien at 908-276-2451.
SPECIAL EVENTS:
 Lego At The Library
will be held on Wednesdays this summer at 3:30-4:30 p.m. for children ages 4-12 years old. Children ages 4-9 years old must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate. Each week children will have an opportunity to build their own creative project based on a weekly theme. Registration is required.
Reptiles and Mammals At The Library

Seventh Annual LibraryFest
an open house event scheduled for
Thursday, Aug. 11,
between the hours of 5:30 and 7 p.m.
Participants will thrill to the amazing interactive science experiments where things fly, spin, move and soar. Children and teens will experience the science of power and energy through several exciting, hands-on experiments that will have the audience laughing, learning and having fun! This program will be presented by Scienceteller Andrew Piccirillo.
Children will also receive a special balloon sculpture made just for them by Mark Dolson; marvel at the sleight of hand of magician Francis Menotti, visit with beautiful Paso Fino horses in our parking lot (weather permitting), and receive a special gift from the library. Families attending LibraryFest should anticipate a fortyfive minute time frame for participation in all of the evening’s events and all children in attendance must be accompanied by a parent or other responsible adult. No registration will be required to attend LibraryFest.
LibraryFest has been funded by The Friends Of The Kenilworth Public Library, and a Recycling Grant given to the Borough of Kenilworth.
