Submitted by Dana Felmet
The Junior League of Summit (JLS) recently received a $1,500 donation from the Lawton C. Johnson Summit Middle School (LCJSMS) Student Council for its grants and scholarships program. LCJSMS raised the funds as part of their annual “Spirit of Giving” initiative in December 2019. JLS President, Erika Melchiorre had the pleasure of accepting the donation from the LCJSMS Student Council.
“We are honored to receive this donation from the students at LCJSMS. The donated monies will go directly to support local non profit organizations through our grants. This is the true ‘Spirit of Giving’. Thank you to the students for their generosity,” said Ms. Melchiorre. In 2019, the JLS awarded over $65,000 in grants and scholarships and the funds from LCJSMS will support the continued success of the program.
