FOR ADULTS
Classic Rock Concert with Rewind

Wednesday, July 11 – 7 p.m.
Join us for an evening of your favorite songs. Local rock band Rewind will perform classic rock music from the 50s, 60s and 70s on the library’s lawn (you may bring a chair or a blanket). In case of inclement weather, the concert will be held in the Lundt Meeting Room.

One Fine Tapestry: A Carole King Tribute
Wednesday, July 25 – 7 p.m.
Gerard and Diane Barros will salute the legendary singer/songwriter Carole King and perform her great solo hits as well as the classics she wrote for other artists including the Drifters, the Shirelles, the Chiffons, the Beatles, and James Taylor. Please join us on the library lawn (you may bring a chair or a blanket). In case of rain, the concert will be held in the Lundt Meeting Room. 

FOR TEENS
Teen Movie Night:  Lemonade Mouth
Tuesday, July 10 – 7 p.m.
When five ragtag freshmen first meet in detention, it seems they have nothing in common. But, through music, they form an unbreakable bond and discover they have the makings of the greatest high school garage band in history! Refreshments will be served.

College Essay Writing Workshop with Alisha Davlin
Tuesdays, July 10, 17 & 24 – 3 to 5 p.m.
For students entering Grade 12. Grade 11 students will only be accepted if space permits.
Attendance at all 3 classes required
Registration opens Tuesday, June 26. Limit:  12 students
Objective: Brainstorm, draft, and complete the Common Application Personal Statement.

As a former outside undergraduate admissions essay reader, Ms. Davlin knows what makes for a competitive college essay and the common pitfalls most applicants make. Ms. Davlin will guide you every step of the journey from brainstorming to final edits. You want the reader to connect with your voice, to know you, and most importantly—to remember you. This course offers you the chance to improve your essay writing so you can stand out from the crowd.

Teen Painting Night: Sunset on the Beach
Thursday, July 19 – 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Ages 13 & Up. Limit: 10 students
Registration opens Thursday, July 5
Following the guidance of art teacher Erica Pizza, learn to use acrylic paint on canvas to create a beautiful sunset scene with a lighthouse on the horizon. Bring your creativity and willingness to learn. All materials will be provided for you to create your masterpiece! Ms. Pizza is an art teacher who specializes in painting, ceramics, and portfolio preparation for students.

Rock Painting for Teens
Monday, July 23 – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Grades 6 to 12. Limit: 15 teens
Registration opens Monday, July 9
Paint a rock with anything from an inspirational message to your favorite animal. We will provide all the materials, just bring your creativity!

Rock Candy Cupcakes for Teens
Friday, July 27 – 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Ages 12 & Up. Limit: 12 students
Registration opens Friday, July 13
Decorate cupcakes to look like candy rocks and use fondant and icing to make a geode you can eat! 

 FOR CHILDREN
Chess for Kids
Mondays and Wednesdays, July 9 through July 25
Registration opens Tuesday, June 26
Players must be able to attend all 6 classes.
Group 1:  Players with little or no experience with chess
4 – 4:45 p.m. Suggested ages 5 to 8. Limit: 12 children
Group 2:  Players who can finish a game with checkmate
5 – 5:45 p.m. Suggested ages 8 to 10. Limit: 16 children
This summer’s classes, led by Chess Expert Sean Finn, will take place twice a week. The last class on July 25 will be a tournament for children in both groups, from 3 to 6 p.m.

Touch the Music: What is Music?
Monday, July 16 – 4 p.m.
Ages 6 to 10. Limit: 30 children
Registration opens Monday, July 2
Touch the Music owner Claudia Lemmerz will discuss where music comes from, how it affects our lives and what people like about music. She will bring a variety of musical instruments for everybody to try out. Come and make some music!

Basic Scratch Programming
Monday, July 30 through Wednesday, August 1 – 4 to 6 p.m.
Ages 8 to 12. Limit: 10 children
Registration opens Monday, July 16
Must be able to attend all three classes.
Learn basic scratch programming in a simple and fun way. Get acquainted with various programming skills and the process of design. No prior experience required.
