Recently, residents have been reporting about calls from the United States Department of Treasury on behalf of the Internal Revenue Service, IRS regarding unpaid taxes. This is a scam. The IRS does not contact people via phone.
The Fanwood Police Department cautions residents that the IRS never contacts anyone by phone. If you receive a call regarding your need to pay taxes, please contact the Fanwood Police Department at (908) 322-5000.
