Field Day at Irene E. Feldkirchner Elementary School
Water balloons, sponge relays and sports games were just a few of the activities that were set up for a spring Field Day at the Irene E. Feldkirchner Elementary School in Green Brook.
A Pep Rally the day before got the students excited for the next day. Students participated in a “Legends of IEF” themed day in which they played games and faced challenges to earn points for their teams. The school was separated into four groups: Green Bengals, Yellow Peacocks, Purple Flamingos, and Orange Wallabies.
On the morning of Field Day itself, the Pre-K, kindergarten, and first and second graders rotated through 13 different stations, both inside and outside. Games such as Animal Tag, Race Around IEF, Obstacle Course, Tic-Tac-Toe Relay, Temple Building, and Target Toss were played. After a cookout lunch courtesy of Pomptonian Food Service, the third and fourth graders had their chance to play. They participated in eight stations, including Castle Ball, Sponge Relay, Skipping Rocks, and Flipping Mountain.
Field Day is a great way to commemorate the end of the school year and to encourage physical activity during the summer months, and the children enjoyed celebrating all the hard work they have done all year.
