Historical Society Springs Into Action!

The Long Hill Township Historical Society has prevailed. Despite Winter Storm warnings, which were greatly diminished by the time our Sunday, March 20th program rolled in, 35 of our intrepid members braved the cold and joined us in our first meeting in the newly renovated Historic Millington School House.
They were not disappointed. Jonathan Mercantini, Chair Department of History and Associate Professor at Kean University, entertained us with a fascinating history of New Jersey’s beginnings from the the early 1600’s up until the Revolution. It was especially significant as we approach Long Hill Township’s Sesquicentennial. This program was possible through a grant from Horizons Speakers Bureau Program .
Our presentations are held at 7:30pm on the last Thursday of the month in Millington’s Historic School House. Our next program will be conducted by Michael Rockland on Thursday, April 28 and will feature the history of the Lenape Indians. Dues for the Long Hill Township are $15 annually. We are always looking for new members. Anyone interested in future programs or membership, please feel free to contact Kathy at 908 350 8012.
