High School Concert Choir Gets to Carnegie Hall

The Cranford High School Concert Choir performed at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, January 14, 2017 in a performance entitled “War, Peace, and the Power of Music.” Produced by Performing Arts Educators and artistic director Dr. Peggy Dettwiler, the festival concert featured nine different choirs including the Mansfield University Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Dettwiler. Groups from New Jersey to Ireland participated in the concert and joined together in the finale, the last portion of the Ralph Vaughan Williams Dona Nobis Pacem. While the Cranford High School Concert Choir has performed at Carnegie Hall before in massed-choir events, this was the first time in school history that the students were invited to present a solo performance at the famous hall. It also marked director Anthony Rafaniello’s Carnegie Hall conducting debut. For the Cranford High School students, the performance was a once in a lifetime experience. Audience members praised their sophisticated singing and program.
The Concert Choir’s spring season will begin with the Cranford High School Spring Choral Concert on Thursday, April 27th at 7:30pm. The concert is open to the public and free to attend.
