President and Owner of Helping Hands Homecare, Bob D’Arienzo, has given a $1,000 DECA scholarship to Brendan Mulvihill; a graduating senior at Arthur L Johnson High School. Brendan has been involved with DECA for the past two years.
DECA is a student organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, management and entrepreneurship through challenging individual and team competitive events. Top state finalists from over 3,500 schools compete each spring at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC).
During his time with DECA, Brendan has done very well, not only moving on from Regionals at Kean University, to States, in Cherry Hill, NJ, but also going on to ICDC two years in a row. Last year ICDC was held in Atlanta, Georgia, this year it was held in Orlando, Florida. Brendan will be attending Rowan University in the Fall, studying engineering.
Bob D’Arienzo, an Arthur L. Johnson alumni and former NJ State DECA champion, started the Helping Hands Homecare scholarship 10 years ago. He said, ”It gives me great joy to be able to give back to a program which gave so much to me when I was in high school.” Mr. D’Arienzo founded Helping Hands Homecare in 2003 and the company is located on Raritan Road in Clark. Helping Hands Homecare provides in home care for the elderly and disabled such as assistance with bathing, dressing, personal needs, meal preparation and housework on both an hourly and live-in basis in order to enable individuals to remain in their homes.
