Green Brook Education and Athletic Foundation Welcomes New Day Camp Director

New Day Camp Director for Summer 2020

The Green Brook Education and Athletic Foundation (GBEAF) and the wider Green Brook community welcome Valerie Currais as the new director for the summer day camp 2020 season. For the past five years the GBEAF has operated a summer day camp at the IEF elementary school in Green Brook. Valerie is a middle school science/STEAM teacher at Central Middle School in Long Hill, NJ. Her experience in both academic and camp settings make her an excellent addition to the Green Brook community.

The Green Brook Day Camp is an option for families of both Green Brook and surrounding communities to take advantage of for the summer months. The program lasts for ten-weeks and is solely focused on enrichment and exciting activities for the participants. Camp participants from grades K to 8 play indoor and outdoor games, create crafts, go on weekly trips, and learn responsibility and leadership. Lead counselors are certified teachers who, with the assistance of additional staff, create a varied schedule of engaging activities for campers.

Many campers return year after year because of all of the varying and exciting activities that the camp has to offer. Each week of camp is assigned a different “Theme”, in which students create art projects and participate in themed games and activities. The field trips change weekly and allow campers to travel to exciting summer destinations in the tri-state area including Jenkinson’s boardwalk, Dorney Park, and Six Flags.

Valerie is looking forward to making her vision a reality for these campers. She is an incredibly active person that loves sports and fitness. She believes that camp is an essential part of a child’s summer because it is the perfect opportunity to try new activities and hobbies that they may not otherwise try. She encourages students to take risks and learn more about themselves every single day. Camp is a place where campers make lifelong friendships and memories.
