OCTOBER EVENTS

September 25 through October 20 – Decorate a Wooden Bat- Pick up a Wooden Bat (the mammals that hang upside down, not the baseball kind) from the library while they last. Use your imagination to decorate it for Halloween. Don’t forget to put your name on the back. Return it to the Library for display through October 20, then take it home for Halloween. Each participant will receive a goody bag when they return a decorated bat. There will be a prize for our favorite bat. For kids in Kindergarten through 8th Grade.

October 2, 16, 23 and 30 at 10:30 am – Knitting Club Join our Knitting Club. Open to all levels. Whether you’re a beginner or you want to share your vast knowledge of knitting, spend an hour being creative and socializing. No Registration required. Yarn and needles provided to newcomers

October 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 at 10  am and 11 am    Storytime – Join Miss Maryanne for stories and more. Our friend and author Laura Sassi will join us on October 3 and Costumes are optional on Halloween, October 31. Registration is  required. Limit 15

October 4, at 7:30 pm – Library Board Meeting -The Library Board meeting is open to the public.

October 5, 12, and 19 at 3 pm – School House Chess – Learn the rules and strategies of chess with chess pieces that have animated personalities that enable Students to learn in new and exciting ways. Registration is required. For children entering 2ndgrade and up. Limit 14

October 9 – Closed – The Library will be closed for Columbus Day and Indigenous Peoples Day.

October 10  at 3 p.m.-  Virtual Kid’s Craft – Pick up your craft supplies from the Library and then watch the Facebook tutorial at 3 pm. Registration is required for craft kits and is limited to 15 participants. Sign up on the Library website’s events calendar or by phone.

October 11 from 10 am to Noon – Ask Kiosk-Aging Services Kiosk  – Union County Division of Aging Staff will be on hand to assist seniors (age 60+) or their caregivers with information on services, such as meal delivery, respite care, adult day care and support services for caregivers

October 11 and 25 at 3 pm  LEGO CLUB Be inspired by this month’s theme or build whatever comes to mind. Some will be displayed in our showcase.   Registration required Limit 12

October 23,  at  1:00 pm  Book Discussion Group Join us in the library a lively discussion of this month’s book,  “The Book Women’s Daughter” by Kim Richarson.
