Garwood Police Youth Academy

August 14th marked the first day of the Garwood Police Youth Academy. The program which started in the summer of 2018, has been an enormous success for the Garwood Police Department. This year hosted 40 middle school age cadets, the largest cadet class to date. The cadets are exposed to a number of law enforcement agencies at the federal, state, and local levels that provide presentations and practical exercises throughout the academy week. The cadets also participate in physical training each morning along with basic academy discipline. The Garwood Police Youth Academy takes place the 3rd week each August.
