Democracy and Good Neighbor Badge
Garwood Daisy Girl Scout Troop 41005 earned their Democracy and Good Neighbor badges thanks to newly elected Councilwoman Kimberly Salmon and Councilwoman Heather Loffredo, who organized a Garwood Borough Hall and Garwood Police Station tour. Councilwoman Salmon went over how council works in every town and what types of decisions are made.
The girls met with Kyle Harris, the Borough Administrator, who went over his role in town and gave them a tour of the building. He shared some fun facts with them but the girls were excited to learn that one of their fellow Daisy’s lives in the oldest house in Garwood. The girl’s then met with Mayor Sara Todisco, who gave the girls a tour of her office and read “Duck for President”.
Finally, the girls met with Police Chief James Wright, who gave the girls a tour of the police station. The girls got a real live look inside of what the jail cells look like. Chief Wright went over the importance of knowing your phone number, address and when you should dial “911”. The girl’s promised that this is something they will start practicing. A huge thank you to all involved in this event.
