Francesca Holl of Warren competed in the USAIGC (United States Association of Independent Gymnastics Clubs) World Championships in Reno, Nevada on June 26 and captured first place with a score of 36.775 All-Around.
Competing against the top 15-year-old Silver Level USAIGC gymnasts from the United States, United Kingdom and South Africa, Francesca beat the second-place medalist by 1.75 points. She was the only 15-year-old who qualified to compete in all four individual event Finals the next day where she won first place in Bars and second place in Beam, Floor and Vault.
“I have been competing on a gymnastics team for four years now,” shared Francesca. “I have been practicing four days a week year-round and competing twice a month from January to June to prepare for Worlds.”
“After every competition, I think about what I could do to improve for the next time. Sometimes I get nervous before a big competition, but I have to remember how hard I have worked to get there. When they called me up for first place, I was surprised and proud. I realized that my hard work and focus during practice finally paid off,” she added.
Francesca is looking forward to representing Mount Saint Mary Academy in gymnastics in the fall.
