Summer Reading Hits a High Note at the Library

Florham Park Public Library’s Summer Reading

The Florham Park Public Library’s Summer Reading challenge is enjoying a banner year in terms of community participation. As of July 17, 310 children and teens have signed up for the program, and 40% are active participants, logging their reading each week at the Library and receiving prizes. These numbers have smashed the Library’s previous record of 275 readers with a 33% participation rate. The adult summer reading challenge is also proving popular–reading challenge “scratch off” tickets are flying like hotcakes from the Library circulation desk!

This year, participants in the K-5th grade and Teen programs are recording the number of days they read over the summer. Every time they read 7 days, they can come into the Library to pick up a prize and receive a raffle ticket toward a grand prize drawing at the end of the summer. Weekly prizes like Rubik’s cubes and gift certificates for a free ice cream are drawing readers back to the Library on a regular basis.

The Library’s Summer Reading program is generously supported by the Friends of the Florham Park Public Library. Other sponsors include Huntington Learning Center, Scoop Coop of East Hanover, The Florham Park Roller Rink, Three Birds Yoga, Trader Joe’s, The Somerset Patriots, The New York Jets, and the New York Giants.
