Great Turnout at the 3rd Annual Fanwood Fan Jam
There’s no official crowd estimate, but it’s safe the say the turnout was at least as good as last year’s estimated 5,000 visitors to Fanwood’s LaGrande Park for Fan Jam 2019. This third annual outdoor rock concert and food festival was blessed with perfect weather for the third straight year. Outstanding live music was provided by five talented local rock bands on an outdoor stage and enjoyed by fans who brought blankets, folding chairs and picnics. Several dozen food vendors included many ethnic dishes, Jersey standards like sausage, peppers and onions and the Sheelan’s Crossing beer garden. The vintage car show, coordinated by Hot Rod Mike and several regional car clubs, was bigger than ever, taking up all of Marian Avenue and two full blocks of 2nd Street.
The Fan Jam is a production of the Westfield Area Chamber of Commerce, coordinated by Aimee Nuzzo, hosted by the Borough of Fanwood and supported by numerous local businesses. Fanwood Council President Tom Kranz officially welcomed visitors on behalf of Mayor Colleen Mahr who is representing Fanwood and the New Jersey State League of Municipalities at the annual conference of the U.S. Conference of Mayors in Honolulu that week. Thanks go out to the Fanwood Department of Public Works, Fanwood police and fire departments and rescue squad and the neighbors who live around LaGrande Park whose patience with the parking, detours and the many visitors really helped make the event go smoothly.
