The Fanwood Police Department, Fire Department and Rescue Squad will be participating in the 34th Annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 1st beginning at 7 p.m. in LaGrande Park. This free public safety open house gives the public an opportunity to interact with public safety officials and will include food and beverages, bounce house, dunk tank, and giveaways with a safety theme, plus tours of apparatus such as a fire engine, ambulance and police car.
This nationwide event, developed by the National Association of Town Watch, began in 1984 as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and to send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods were organized and fighting back against crime.
