The works of Westfield artist, Sung Gross, are currently on exhibit at SCLSNJ’s Warren Township Library branch. This art show, featuring nineteen oil paintings focusing on nature landscapes and cityscapes, depicts locales near and far. Paintings titled “Amsterdam,” “Crater in Maui,” “Lake Garda,” and “View from High Line” are a few of the pieces included in the “Escape into Landscapes” exhibition.
Gross, born in South Korea, enjoyed a career in the U.S. as a social research scientist and more recently, she has taught as an adjunct professor. Her interest in drawing and painting began in childhood and many of her earlier works include Korean watercolor folk paintings.
For the last 10 years, while attending and painting in the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey, she has exhibited her oil paintings in a variety of venues, including: Mayo Performing Arts Center, Paper Mill Playhouse, Morristown Library, Livingston Community Center, Johnson & Johnson Gallery, and the Summit Art Center Gallery.
The paintings in this collection will be on display at the Warren Township branch, located at 42 Mountain Blvd, Warren, during regular library hours through September 29.
Anyone needing more information or any artist interested in exhibiting either in the small, glass-enclosed display case or on the gallery wall, should contact library staff member, Kathy DeCristofaro at kdecrist@sclibnj.org.
