10th Annual Black History Month Essay Contest

Entries for the 10th Annual Black History Month Essay Contest for Linden students in grades five through twelve are now being accepted. Essay requirements are that all work is original and meet the recommended word count. 5th grade – 300 words, 6th – 8th grade 500 words, High school minimum of 750 words.
This year’s essay prompt is, ” Did you know that an African American…”
The students are encouraged to write about historical and modern-day African American contributors to our society. Someone whose contributions may or may not be well known by the general public: Business owners, inventors, artists, musicians, etcetera.
The entries should be submitted via email to Councilwoman Rhashonna C. Cosby via email at rcosby@linden-nj.org no later than Monday, February 17, 2020.
The students will get notified if they are selected to read their original works at the February 25, 2020 celebration of Black History.
