Eagle Scout Stirling Lake Boardwalk Project
Submitted by Christopher Gianakis, Troop 56
My Eagle Scout Project was the creation of a boardwalk over an asphalt walkway that would get flooded due to bad weather. The old path was treacherous to cross because it was a muddy mess. I designed and built a simple solution so citizens can get to their neighborhood park or home from school without having to walk through mud or climb over a fence. The project cost approximately $1,600 and took over two weeks to finish.
The boardwalk is 60 feet long with a 4 foot long angled section to compensate for the turn in the path. I made the boardwalk with 7 eight foot long sections, and the last angled section was 4 feet long. Each section was 4 feet wide, but when the composite boards were laid on top, it was about 5 feet wide.
I am looking for help with funding; checks and donations can be made out to “BSA Troop 56.” Please contact me about donations at 908-472-2364. I can meet to receive donations after school, or they can be mailed to my address at 215 High Street, 07980.
