DAR Honors Local Cadet with JROTC Medal

The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) made a special presentation at North Plainfield High School’s Awards Night, honoring Cadet Master Chief Petty Officer Jada Pinzon with a DAR Bronze Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) medal.

Ashley Salsano, regent of Elizabeth Snyder-Continental Chapter, presented the medal and congratulated Pinzon. “We are recognizing a cadet who has not only met but has exceeded expectations. This remarkable young woman has demonstrated outstanding leadership, dedication, and service.”

Pinzon is completing her third year in JROTC, serving with distinction as the Unit Senior Enlisted Leader and providing a crucial link between the unit commanding officer and the 125 cadets under her leadership. She has participated in various events including drill competitions that have showcased her dedication to excellence and her ability to inspire and lead her peers.

“She sets an example and has served as a mentor and a role model to many, demonstrating what it means to lead with integrity, respect, and a genuine concern for the well-being of her fellow cadets,” said Salsano. “Her journey is just beginning, and we have no doubt that she will continue to achieve great things.”

The DAR Bronze JROTC Medal is awarded to cadets who exemplify loyalty and patriotism and have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities. Candidates for the medal are recommended to the local DAR chapter by the unit commander or program supervisor.

The JROTC is a federal program in high schools sponsored by the U.S. Armed Forces. Its purpose is to instill in students the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment.
