Cunha Sisters Celebrate Victories

Clark Public School students, sisters Mia and Tatiana Cunha, recently celebrated some major victories.

Mia Cunha won 2 gold medals in the 25 meters freestyle and 25 meters backstroke at the Special Olympics held on June 10-12, 2022  at The College of New Jersey. She also won a bronze in the 50 meter relay. 

Mia has only been swimming competitively for a year but has always taken swimming lessons since she was little.  

Mia’s parents, Dennis and Sandra Cunha stated, “If you only knew how proud we are of you! We are so proud of you and the way you have proved yourself. You are a parent’s dream and desires, realized all in you.”

Tatiana Cunha, competed at the ECNL(Elite Clubs National League) National Finals in Seattle, Washington on June 22-29, 2022 at 60 Acres Park. Tatiana Cunha plays soccer for World Class FC in Orangeburg, NY. They are the elite 8 Teams in all of the Nation in the U-14 age bracket (2008)

Her team won 2 games and lost 1. They Lost to a team from California called Pateadores 2-1 who have won 7 national championships. They went on to win there other 2 games 5-1 against Kings Hammers FC from Ohio and 4-3 to KC Scott Gallagher from Kansas City. This is the Highest level of play in girls’ youth soccer. There were over 250 college scouts in attendance. 

Tatiana’s parents stated, “To finish in the top 5 in the country is an amazing achievement. We are so proud of Tatiana and the achievement she has been able to accomplish and experience.”
