Cranford Public Library
Get rewarded for reading this Summer! Registration for Cranford Public Library’s annual Summer Reading Challenge has begun. Visit the Children’s Department to enroll or register online at cranfordlibrary.beanstack.com. Log your reading time from June 19th to August 14. The more you read, the more carnival tickets you’ll earn! Spend your tickets on games, crafts, fun activities, and prizes. Be sure to report all of your time by August 14!
In addition to logging reading, the library runs a variety of programs for children of all ages. Children do not need to be enrolled in the Summer Reading Challenge to participate in our summer programs.
“Paws” for Reading at the Cranford Public Library! Young readers are invited to hone their skills by reading to certified therapy dogs. Dogs are a perfect, non-judgmental audience for children learning to read independently! No registration is required, space is available on a first come, first served basis. This program meets July 11 and August 22 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
The Cranford Public Library will be hosting a series of special programs on Wednesday nights at 7:00 from July 5 through August 2 These free programs are best suited to elementary-aged children, but are open to all ages and are sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Practice random acts of kindness through crafts at Craft Crew. Community members of all ages are invited to celebrate the summer reading theme of “All Together Now” by spreading joy in the community! Crafters of all ages and abilities are invited to drop in and join us from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. every Friday in July. No registration is required, but children under age 8 require an adult guardian.
Have fun making Lego creations to display in the library on Thursday, July 6 and August 3 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Lego pieces will be provided by the library. This is a drop-in program, no registration is required.

Sing, dance, and laugh along with Polka Dot on Saturday, July 15 at 10:15 a.m. as he entertains children with a high energy and interactive music and comedy show. He’s a school teacher and parent “by day,” and the KING of KIDDIE ROCK ‘n’ ROLL!™ With his one-of-a-kind, super-cool tunes and comedy, Ron Albanese – POLKA DOT! has been cracking up kids of all ages – and adults – for over 15 years! Registration is not required, but space is limited and may be unavailable to latecomers.
Join us for a storytime especially for toddlers on Tuesday mornings from July 11 through August 15. Each session incorporates stories and a hands-on activity and meets in the Cranford Community Center. Registration is not required, but space is limited and may be unavailable to latecomers. This program does not meet on July 4.
Join us for a Friendship Jewelry Extravaganza on Friday, August 4 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. We’ll have a variety of jewelry making supplies, including beads and embroidery floss. This program is open to children of all ages, no registration is required.
Readers in grade 3-5 are invited to discuss Book Scavenger by Jennifer Bertman and help organize their very own scavenger hunt! The first eight readers to register will receive a free copy of the book, these books come with the expectation that the registrant will attend the event. Families are invited to craft together on Wednesday, August 9 at 6:00 p.m. We’ll be using beeswax, shea butter, coconut oil, and essential oils to create our own natural lip balm.
