The Cranford High School Varsity Girls Soccer team won the 2018 Union County Conference championship for the first time since 2000. The team ended the season with a 18-4 record, its best record in program history. It was the first time that the team reached the finals since 2013. On the state level the team reached the finals for their North II Group II conference. This was the first appearance there since 2000 also.
The varsity girls also were undefeated at home matches with a 12-0 record. A highlight of the season included beating powerhouse Westfield and ending their 48-game unbeaten streak with the 4-1 win. They also beat Scotch Plains, another Union County powerhouse.
Cranford was recognized as a Top 20 Team in the state, and standout Maggie Murry was named Union County Player of the Year by NJ.com.
