Cranford Fire Dept. Breast Cancer Awareness Month Fundraiser

Cranford Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Cranford Fire Department will be lighting up the Firehouse Pink during the month of October in an effort to bring awareness to breast cancer. According to Breastcancer.org, approximately 1 in 8 women in the U.S. will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. Men are also affected by this deadly disease and have a 1 in 833 lifetime risk.

“The Cranford Fire Department is determined to bring awareness to this deadly disease,” said Fire Chief Dan Czeh. “We all know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. Some people were able to beat the disease while others were taken from us. It is our hope that all females go for an annual mammography. Early detection is critical for surviving breast cancer. Males should also be proactive and see a doctor if they detect any abnormalities.”

Cranford Fire Department members will also be wearing “pink” shirts during the month. A limited supply of shirts will be available for purchase via Venmo (@Cranford-Local) or by visiting Fire Headquarters located at 7 Springfield Ave. Cost of the shirts are $25. Proceeds will go towards Cranford Relay for Life. If purchasing a shirt in person, please have exact change. Checks will also be accepted and must be made out to Cranford FMBA Local 37. All in person visitors are kindly requested to wear a face covering.
