In the spirit of showing Cranford-Pride and continuing to build on community relations with our youth, the Cranford Police Department recently upgraded its juvenile bureau police car as a result of the generosity of a local businessman. Mr. John Guempel of Eii Electrical & Mechanical Contractors spearheaded the effort to modify a traditional black and white radio car into to a blue and gold school resource officer vehicle. Currently the car is assigned to the department’s school resource officer and can be seen at district schools on a daily basis.
The Township of Cranford and Cranford Board of Education began its school resource officer program in 2014. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between the township’s younger generation and local law enforcement. This blended partnership between the police department and schools is symbolically displayed through this unique upgrade in the school resource officer vehicle.
Chief Wozniak thanked both Eii and John Guempel for its generosity in making this upgrade possible. “My goal as Chief has been to continue to bring our community together,” said Chief Wozniak. “When we can positively combine efforts of our township, school district and generous local businesses such as Eii, it speaks to the spirit of our community and the caliber of its people.”
