A group of about 30 teenagers from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County (BGCUC) had a great opportunity to see first-hand the many career opportunities at Comcast, during a visit to Comcast’s Union, NJ, facility on Friday, August 12th. The visit was part of a Career Day event that included speakers, presentations and handson experiences.
Members of the BGCUC met with Comcast representatives from technical operations, marketing, human resources/recruiting and video production. They learned about the jobs of communications technicians and the complex technology employed at Comcast, saw a demonstration of Comcast’s Olympics experience on X1, learned about job interview etiquette and visited the set of Comcast Newsmakers, where the students took turns interviewing each other and getting a behind-thescenes look in the production booth.
“Bringing a group of students from BGCUC to our local Comcast office was a great way to expose them to the wide range of job functions available within a single company and beyond. Our employees were excited to share their professional journeys, educational backgrounds and top tips with the kids – so they can see there are many different paths to success, and career opportunities for all interests,” said Kimberly Smith, Director, Government & Community Affairs, Comcast.
“We cannot thank Comcast and Board Member Kim Smith enough for organizing this day for our teens,” said Russell Triolo, CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Union County. “This is a special opportunity for Club members to get a behind-the-scenes glance at Comcast and the various careers.”
