Classical Pianist Joseph Hauer Comes to Stirling May 15th

On May 15, 2016, at 2:00 p.m., the First Presbyterian Church of Stirling will present classical pianist Joseph Hauer who is making his First Pres Concert Series debut.
Pianist Joseph Hauer, soloist, chamber musician, and collaborative pianist, hails from Appleton Wisconsin. Only 23 years old, he has already performed concertos with the Oberlin Orchestra, Fox Valley Symphony, Madison Symphony Orchestra, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. His performances have been broadcast statewide on Wisconsin Public Television and Wisconsin Public Radio, as well as on WCLV 104.9’s “Cleveland Ovations.” Recent engagements brought him to the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., Freeport Community Concert Association (New York), Young Masters Recital Series (Valley Cottage), University of Michigan School of Music, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and other venues throughout the United States. He has attended the Golandsky Institute Summer Symposium at Princeton University, PianoSummer at New Paltz, and Pianofest in the Hamptons. He is a perennial performer at the Apollo Chamber Music Festival.
Hauer is currently pursuing a Masters in Piano Performance with Eteri Andjaparidze at the NYU Steinhardt School of Music, where he holds a position as Adjunct Instructor of Piano. He is also a Summer Chamber Music Instructor at the Arthur Krempin School of Music in Appleton, WI. He completed his undergraduate studies at the Oberlin Conservatory with Professor Peter TakЗcs on a full scholarship from the Miller Family Music Education Scholarship; at Oberlin, he was awarded the Junior Prize in Piano, named alternate winner in the Arthur Dann Piano Competition, and was winner of the Senior Concerto Competition. His former teachers include Catherine Kautsky, Kyung Kim, Catherine Walby, and Charlene Reitz. His interests include jazz piano, Russian, racquetball, and snowboarding.
