Clark Scouts Give Back to Community

(about) Local scouts did a great job in October giving back to the community through clean-up projects and a donation collection.

Scouts Give Back to Community

It was a busy week of service for Boy Scout, Cub Scout, and Brownie troops from Clark, NJ, in early October. Scouts from BSA Troop 145, Cub Scout Pack 145, and Brownie Troop 41921 all participated in the Garwood Township clean up on October 8, where they were asked to pick up trash along a stretch of sidewalk from Garwood Borough Hall to 4th Avenue and back. A number of scouts from each group showed up to the event and did great work beautifying the area.

On October 10, Scouts from BSA Troop 145 and Cub Scout Pack 145 pitched in to clean up the Clark Rec Center after the Unico Festival. Armed with bags and buckets, the Scouts walked the grounds of the Rec Center and picked up trash, cleaned rugs, and moved tables and chairs. John Cistaro, the Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 145 said, “It was a great service event. We’re proud to be able to get the grounds of the Rec Center clean after another great Unico Italian Festival.”

Also, during the week of October 3, BSA Troop 145 collected donation items for Osceola Presbyterian Church’s Operation Christmas Child. Troop 145 families donated generously to the cause, providing items such as small toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and small clothing like hats and gloves that will be boxed, wrapped and given to underprivileged children as Christmas gifts.

The Scouts of Clark, NJ, are happy to serve the communities of Clark and Garwood and they look forward to other community service opportunities.
