Clark Public Library June Events
The library may be increasing our open hours this month. Please check our website or call to confirm hours. Inside the library, capacity will be reduced and we will be practicing social distancing. Masks will be required when in the building. Our librarians are here to help with reference questions or book recommendations!
Most events will be held virtually via Zoom. Please register for any programs by emailingreference@clarklibrary.org and state which program you would like to attend and you will be sent a link to the meeting. You may also register through the online calendar on our website atclarklibrary.org.
Boredom Buster for Kids
Each month we have a new take home craft for kids to pick up and make at their leisure. While supplies last, no registration. Available beginning June 1.
Teen Take-Out Craft: Beaded Butterfly & Daisy Charm Bracelet Kit
Reserve a beaded butterfly & daisy charm bracelet kit starting Monday, June 7. The kit will include supplies and instructions. Priority registration for teens with library cards (any library in Union County). Please email reference@clarklibrary.org or call 732-388-5999 to reserve a kit. Open to teens in Grades 6-12 while supplies last.
[Adult DIY] Paint by Stickers: Travel
Are you ready for summer travel season? The June Adult DIY Craft is sticker painting. We will be using the book, “Paint by Sticker: Travel” which includes stickers and templates of Art Deco posters of faraway romantic places from Venice to Cairo. The take-out craft will include simple instructions so you can do it at home without a group Zoom class. Please reserve a kit through our online calendar starting on May 28 and pickup begins on June 1. *A library card is required to register for this program (any library in Union County) and Clark card holders will have priority.

Sophie the therapy dog is available to listen to your child practice reading via Zoom! She has very flexible availability. Please email ReadToSophie@gmail.com to make an appointment.
June is time for our annual Summer Reading Program, Tails & Tales! All ages are encouraged to participate! Online registration begins June 1, in person registration begins June 21. Register using the free Beanstack Tracker App (available in the App Store or Google Play) or online at clarklibrary.beanstack.org. Tickets are earned various ways in each program and then entered into drawings for a variety of prizes! All ages can keep reading and submitting tickets through Beanstack until August 31.
Babies and Preschool: Earn points for every book listened to or read and for attending programs virtually or in person. The more points you earn, the more raffle tickets you receive!
Entering Elementary: Keep track of the time you spend reading or listening to books and attend library programs virtually or in person to earn raffle tickets! Every hour reading/listening earns a ticket.
Teens: Join us for a fun summer of reading, programs, and prizes! Earn 1 raffle ticket for every book or graphic novel you read, every audiobook you listen to, and every teen program you attend! Write 3 book reviews and you’ll earn a 3D printed item.
Adults: Earn 1 raffle ticket for every book you read, every audiobook you listen to, and every adult/family program you attend!

[Virtual] Timed Lego Challenges
Thursday, June 3 at 4:00 p.m.
Express your creativity with our Timed Lego Building Challenge. Kids will get a prompt, such as a “piece of furniture” and then have 8 minutes to build it with Lego. There will be an hour filled with different prompts! If you do not have your own Lego, please contact the Children’s Department of the library.

[Virtual] Adult Coloring Club
Fridays June 4 and 18 at 11:00 a.m.
Coloring is a great way to unwind and relieve some stress! Pick up coloring sheets and crayons at the library and meet up on Zoom for some soothing music and relaxation. Once you register, you’ll be emailed when your supplies are ready to be picked up at the library.

[Virtual] Who Was… Book Club for Kids
Wednesday, June 16 at 4:00 p.m.
Kids in 2nd-6th grade are invited to join us via Zoom for our Who Was…book club! Each month we will read a book from this fun series focusing on a particular type of person, such as inventor, athlete, musician, etc. and then come together to discuss and share what we have learned and do a related activity. Please read one of the Where Is books this month about a place you might like to visit!

Join us for virtual family game night on Zoom! Each month we will play a different game geared toward elementary ages and older. This month is Bingo! For MURAL cardholders and Union County residents only. Prizes will not be mailed.
Afternoon Book Club
Tuesday, June 22 at 1:00 p.m.
Join us for our next book club meeting. We’ll be discussing “The Sun Down Motel” by Simone St. James. We will be meeting outside under a pop-up tent in the library parking lot. You may also join us via Zoom if you don’t feel comfortable meeting in person yet. Please speak with a librarian if you need a copy of the book.
Tails & Tales Summer Reading Kick-Off: Safari Adventure with Muscle Man Mike
Monday, June 28 at 7:00 p.m.
Celebrate our annual Summer Reading Program! We are all going on a “Safari Adventure” with our friend Jenny the Giraffe! This show takes children on the adventure of their lives with Muscle Man Mike! They have to search for all the Safari animals with Mike and they will also become the animals in a charade game! Music and magic that amazes, Safari style! This event will be held outdoors, weather permitting. Social distancing and mask wearing will be required. Please register online or through a librarian.
[Virtual] Iditarod Dog Mushing with Chloe & Noggin
Tuesday, June 29 at 4:00 p.m.
Karen Land, with her dogs Noggin and Chloe, will give a presentation about Iditarod dog sledding. Participants can ask questions live (verbally or through the chat box) or email questions in advance. During the talk, she will discuss a wide range of subjects including the raising and training of sled dogs, the breeds of dogs used in long distance mushing, and the preparations needed to run a 1000-mile dog sled race. She will share some of her own stories from the trail! The subject matter is perfect for all ages from pre-K through senior citizens.
Tails & Tales Animal Plaque Painting
Wednesday, June 30 at 10:00 a.m.
Join us outdoors to share a favorite animal book and then paint your own wooden animal plaque! Due to social distancing, we will offer this same program outdoors (weather permitting) on multiple dates and times. Masks will be mandatory. Rain date will be scheduled if necessary. Join us as we make a cute DIY hanging “Summer Reading” sign to kick off our adult summer reading program. After registering, you will be emailed when your materials are ready for pickup and you will be sent the Zoom link to make it together. Please supply your own paint brushes.
