The library is now open normal, pre-pandemic hours! Masks are optional for vaccinated individuals. The library will be closed on Monday, July 5 in observance of Independence Day.
We will be having some outdoor, virtual, and hybrid events this month. Please register for any programs by emailing reference@clarklibrary.org and state which program you would like to or through the online calendar on our website at clarklibrary.org.
Boredom Buster for Kids
Each month we have a new take home craft for kids to pick up and make at their leisure. This month is a patriotic craft. While supplies last, no registration. Available beginning July 1.
Teen Take-Out Craft: Patriotic Glitter Art
Our July Teen Take-Out Craft is patriotic glitter art pictures. Reserve a kit starting on Thursday, July 1. The kit will include supplies and instructions. Priority registration for teens with library cards (any library in Union County). Please email reference@clarklibrary.org or call 732-388-5999 to reserve a kit. Open to teens in Grades 6-12 while supplies last.
Adult DIY Craft

[Virtual] Read to Sophie by Appointment
Sophie the therapy dog is available to listen to your child practice reading via Zoom! She is has very flexible availability. Please email ReadToSophie@gmail.com to make an appointment.
It is time for our annual Summer Reading Program, Tails & Tales! All ages are encouraged to participate! Registration is open now. Register using the free Beanstack Tracker App (available in the App Store or Google Play) or online at clarklibrary.beanstack.org. Tickets are earned various ways in each program and then entered into drawings for a variety of prizes! All ages can keep reading and submitting tickets through Beanstack until August 31.
Babies and Preschool: Earn points for every book listened to or read and for attending programs virtually or in person. The more points you earn, the more raffle tickets you receive!
Entering Elementary: Keep track of the time you spend reading or listening to books and attend library programs virtually or in person to earn raffle tickets! Every hour reading/listening earns a ticket.
Teens: Earn 1 raffle ticket for every book or graphic novel you read, every audiobook you listen to, and every teen program you attend! Write 3 book reviews and you’ll earn a 3D printed item.
Adults: Earn 1 raffle ticket for every book you read, every audiobook you listen to, and every adult/family program you attend!
Tails & Tales Animal Plaque Painting on Thursday, July 1 at 3:30 pm or Monday, July 19 at 3:00 pm or Thursday, August 5 at 10:00 am
Join us outdoors to share a favorite animal book and then paint your own wooden animal plaque! Due to social distancing, we will offer this same program outdoors (weather permitting) on multiple dates and times. Masks will be mandatory. Rain date will be scheduled if necessary. Please register online or through a librarian.
[Hybrid] Preschool Story & Craft on Fridays, July 2, 9, 16, and 30 at 10:00 am
Stories, rhymes, songs, and simple craft in person or on Zoom in the high school courtyard. Please register for this event and let us know if you plan to attend in person or virtually for further instructions. Virtual attendees will be provided most craft materials in advance and the Zoom link. In person attendees are invited to make the craft outdoors. In the event of rain, everyone will be virtual.
[Hybrid] Baby Bookworms on Tuesdays, July 6, 13, 20, and 27 at 10:00 am
Baby Bookworms is in person or via Zoom! Babies and toddlers are invited to hear some books, and learn some songs, rhymes, lap bounces, and fingerplays! Please register to get the Zoom link to attend and/or instructions on where to meet. The event will be held in the high school courtyard. In the event of rain, the event will be virtual for all.
Virtual Teen Trivia – Jeopardy Style! on Tuesday, July 6 at 2:00 pm
Show off your trivia knowledge with categories including animals, YA books, pop culture, movies, and more! All participants will be entered into a raffle for prizes. Open to teens in Grades 6-12. Register through our online calendar or email reference@clarklibrary.org. A Zoom invitation will be sent before the program.

Each session we will have a new craft project for elementary aged children. You may pick up the materials for the craft starting the Wednesday before and then join us via Zoom to make it together! Please register to be contacted for the supply list and for the Zoom login information.

[Virtual] Who Was… Book Club for Kids on Wednesday, July 7 at 4:00 pm
Kids in 2nd-6th grade are invited to join us via Zoom for our Who Was…book club! Each month we will read a book from this fun series focusing on a particular type of person, such as inventor, athlete, musician, etc. and then come together to discuss and share what we have learned and do a related activity. Please read a book about an inventor or scientist this month!

[Virtual] Timed Lego Challenges on Thursday, July 8 at 4:00 pm
Express your creativity with our Timed Lego Building Challenge. Kids will get a prompt, such as a “piece of furniture” and then have a certain number of minutes to build it with Lego. There will be an hour filled with different prompts! If you do not have your own Lego, please contact the Children’s Department of the library.
[Virtual] Adult Coloring Club on Fridays July 9 and 30 at 11:00 am
Coloring is a great way to unwind and relieve some stress! Pick up coloring sheets and crayons at the library and meet up on Zoom for some soothing music and relaxation. Once you register, you’ll be emailed when your supplies are ready to be picked up at the library.

Stuffed Animal Sleepover on Wednesday, July 14 at 3:00 pm or 4:00 pm
Bring your favorite stuffed pal to the library for an outdoor story and craft. After that, it’s time for the kids to say goodbye and leave their stuffed friend behind for the overnight library party. Check social media during the evening to see what your stuffed pal is up to, then come back the next day to pick up your friend and craft. *Priority registration for Clark residents. The adult summer reading program theme is Tails and Tales. Join us via Zoom as we discuss “All Creatures Great & Small” by James Herriot. Delve into the unforgettable world of James Herriot, the world’s most beloved veterinarian. For decades, Herriot roamed the remote, beautiful Yorkshire Dales, treating every patient that came his way from smallest to largest, and observing animals and humans alike. Meet this amazing little unicorn that wears sneakers from Hope’s Promise Farm! Learn about miniature horses, what they eat, where they live, and what kinds of jobs they have. This will be held in the high school courtyard, weather permitting. We will be social distancing at this event.

Smart Choices for a Healthy Life will be presenting a free educational lesson for children in grades K-2 that encourage them to accept the differences of their peers. This is done primarily by reading a book called Karli and the Star of the Week and fostering related discussions.
Blobfish Slime for Kids on Wednesday, July 28 at 3:30 pm
After a Blobfish Story, make some Blobfish slime to take home. Intended for ages 5 and up. Outdoors (weather permitting).
