Boredom Buster for Kids

Each month we have a new take home craft for kids to pick up and make at their leisure. While supplies last, no registration. Available beginning April 1.

Teen Take-Out Craft

Reserve a Magic Color Scratch bookmark kit starting Thursday, April 1. The kit will include supplies and instructions. Priority registration for Clark residents. Emailreference@clarklibrary.org or call 732-388-5999 to reserve a kit. Open to teens in Grades 6-12 while supplies last.

[Adult DIY Craft] Angel Wind Chime

Our April Adult DIY Craft is an angel wind chime. You will pick up an unfinished wood wind chime, acrylic paint, and Cricut vinyl. The take-out kit will include the instruction so that you can make it at home without a group Zoom class. Please reserve the kit through our online calendar starting on April 1. Pickup begins on Monday, April 12. Open to adults while supplies last. *A library card is required to register for this program (any library in Union County) and Clark card holders will have priority.

Sophie the therapy dog is available to listen to your child practice reading via Zoom! She has very flexible availability. Please email ReadToSophie@gmail.com to make an appointment.

[Virtual] Poetry Party for Kids

Monday, April 2 at 2:00 p.m.

April is National Poetry Month! We will celebrate poetry by reading some favorite poems, playing some online poetry games, creating our own poetry, and go on a rhyming hunt! Geared toward elementary students that are reading and writing. Please register to receive the Zoom link.

Tuesdays, April 6, 20, and 27 at 10:00 a.m.

Baby Bookworms is virtual via Zoom! Babies and toddlers are invited to hear some books, and learn some songs, rhymes, lap bounces, and fingerplays! Please register to get the Zoom link to attend.

[Adult] Creativebug: Basic Line Drawing (Flowers & Geometrics)

Wednesdays, April 7 & April 14 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

The library subscribes to Creativebug database, which provides thousands of arts & crafts video classes taught by artists. Using Creativebug, we will be hosting a 2-session stylized line drawing class “Basic Line Drawing by Lisa Congdon” in April. You will learn the line drawing of flowers and geometrics. We will also watch videos and practice drawing together via Zoom. After registering, you will be emailed when your materials are ready for pickup and you will be sent the Zoom link. Please register through our online calendar. *A library card is required to register for this program (any library in Union County) and Clark card holders will have priority.

[Virtual] Superhero Bingo for Kids

Wednesday, April 7 at 2:00 p.m.

Join us via Zoom to play Superhero Bingo! This event is free and prizes will be awarded! *Winners must live in Union County and be willing to pick up the prize in person. One prize per person.

[Virtual] 8 Minute Lego Challenges

Thursday, April 8 at 4:00 p.m.

Join us via Zoom to express your creativity with our Timed Lego Building Challenge. Kids will get a prompt, such as a “piece of furniture” and then have 8 minutes to build it with Lego. There will be an hour filled with different prompts! If you do not have your own Lego, please contact the Children’s Department of the library.

Stories, rhymes, songs, and simple craft on Zoom. Please register to be provided most craft materials and the Zoom link.

[Virtual] Adult Coloring Club

Fridays April 9, 16, and 23 at 11:00 a.m.

Coloring is a great way to unwind and relieve some stress! Pick up coloring sheets and crayons at the library and meet up on Zoom for some soothing music and relaxation. Once you register, you’ll be emailed when your supplies are ready to be picked up at the library.

Every other week we will have a new craft project for elementary aged children. You may pick up the materials for the craft starting the Wednesday before and then join us via Zoom to make it together! Please register to be contacted for the supply list and for the Zoom login information. *Priority registration for Clark residents. Non-residents may be placed on the wait list until 6 days before the program to determine if there is space.

Teen Take & Make: DIY Crepe Paper Flower Magnets

Monday, April 19 at 4:00 p.m.

Learn how to make cute crepe paper flower magnets. A perfect decoration for Spring. Once you register, you’ll be emailed when your supplies are ready to be picked up at the library. Join us for an optional online get-together as we make the cards together over Zoom. Open to teens in Grades 6-12.

Wednesday, April 21 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Join us for an adult painting class via Zoom. We will draw and paint poppy flowers on acrylic paper. After registering, you will be emailed when your materials are ready for pickup and you will be sent the Zoom link to make it together. Please supply your own paint brushes. [Virtual] Who Was… Book Club for Kids

Wednesday, April 21 at 4:00 p.m.

Kids in 2nd-6th grade are invited to join us via Zoom for our re-ignited Who Was…book club! Each month we will read a book from this fun series focusing on a particular type of person, such as inventor, athlete, musician, etc. and then come together to discuss and share what we have learned and do a related activity. [Virtual] Earth Day Recycled Craft for Kids

Celebrate Earth Day by making a craft with recycled materials via Zoom. Please register to receive the Zoom link and some materials in advance of the program. *Clark residents have priority for registration.

Clear Clutter Away with Jamie Novak

Wednesday, April 28 at 6:30 p.m.

If “getting organized” has been on your to-do list, then you won’t want to miss this virtual program. Bestselling author and organizing humorist Jamie Novak will share what you need to know to finally tackle those lingering projects. She’ll even guide you through a mini organizing session to help jump start your progress. Log on and lose the clutter!

Protect Yourself from Consumer Fraud

Thursday, April 29 at 1:00 p.m.

Join us for this virtual program presented by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. Learn about current consumer fraud scams and how to stay alert and safe during these trying times. The presentation will cover IRS scams, phone scams, lottery scams, grandparent scams, email scams, telemarketing scams, identity theft, phishing, and more. 

The library is open by appointment at this time for Clark Residents. Call 732-388-5999 and follow the menu options to make an appointment for up to 30 minutes. Patrons will be able to browse and check the computers. Curbside pickup and mobile printing will be available for all card holders at this time without appointment. During the demolition of the police department the library will be closed. During the repaving of the lot, we encourage you to use curbside pickup as parking will be extremely limited. 

Hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday 9:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.; and Saturday 9:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. Hours are subject to change, so please check our website or call before coming. The capacity will be reduced and we will be practicing social distancing. Masks will be required when in the building. Our librarians are here to help with reference questions or book recommendations.

All items must be returned in the book drop and will be in quarantine for 7-10 days. The items stay on your card during this time. You will not be charged overdues for the time the items are quarantining. Please do not renew overdue items you know you returned while they are quarantining.

Events will be held virtually via Zoom. Please register for any programs by emailing reference@clarklibrary.org and state which program you would like to attend and you will be sent a link to the meeting. You may also register through the online calendar on our website at clarklibrary.org.
