The Chelsea at Fanwood assisted living residence raised $1,200 through events that benefitted Alzheimer’s New Jersey and Fanwood’s volunteer first responders.
A sandwich sale called “Heroes for Heroes” benefited the Fanwood Fire Department and Rescue Squad. Hero sandwiches were sold for $7 each right outside the Chelsea’s front door on South Avenue to passing motorists and others. The fire department’s new Engine 7 and a crew were on hand. The event raised $400.
On Tuesday, Sept. 18, The Chelsea hosted a tricky tray auction with gift baskets of donated prizes that included wine, food, gift certificates and jewelry. Participants donated $10 at the door and had opportunities to buy tickets to “bid” on gift baskets. The event raised $800.
All proceeds count towards the Chelsea’s goal of raising $1,500 for the company’s annual Lace Race, a walk for Alzheimer’s at Thompson Park in Monroe on October 10th, which last year raised more than $40,000 for Alzheimer’s New Jersey.
