Chelsea Senior Living and Rolling Thunder Team Up for Service Veterans
Stacks of dry goods, non-perishable food and sundries were ready to go to service men and women overseas and to veterans in need here in New Jersey, thanks to donations from eight Chelsea Senior Living residences and the Rolling Thunder veterans support group.
Chelsea spearheaded the collections at its buildings in Tinton Falls, Fanwood, Belvidere, Marlboro, Brick, Monroe, Montville and West Milford. The goods were brought to the Belvidere location – the Chelsea at Brookfield – where Rolling Thunder members Diane Malanga and George Matheis, both of the Broadway, NJ, chapter, loaded them up for delivery on Tuesday, March 26, 2019.
“You can’t do enough for our servicemen and women and our veterans,” said Tom Kranz, Director of Communications for Chelsea Senior Living. “And at Chelsea, we have many veterans among our residents to whom we pay ongoing tribute.”
“Some of the donations will go to the various programs at the VA facility in Lyons, including the nursing home and the transition program for homeless veterans,” said Malanga.
Rolling Thunder, initially known as a motorcycle club, now has 90 chapters and thousands of members nationwide, many of whom don’t ride but who support veterans and service members and POW/MIA issues.
Chelsea Senior Living has 19 assisted living communities in NJ, NY and PA with residents who include veterans from all services.
